In an effort to allow some inmates with wide feet the privilege to purchase personal athletic shoes, the following procedures and guidelines have been set in place to ensure simplicity and uniformity.
- Only those inmates that have wide feet and are on the “wide shoe list” as size 3E and 5E are allowed to purchase shoes from an outside, non-commissary source.
- Wide feet measurements for General Population will be done on the 2nd Thursday of each month in the laundry issue room.
- Wide fee measurements for A-Block inmates will be done on individual units by the Laundry Sgt. as schedule permits.
- Wide athletic shoes may only be purchased from MIKE’S BETTER SHOES, an established company that works exclusively with correctional institutions. The selection of styles offered with this information will be the only ones available for purchase.
- You will be allowed to purchase 3E or 5E wide shoes by:
- Sending a withdrawal slip and completed order form via U.S. mail to MIKE’S BETTER SHOES. (as you would any other outside purchase.)
- Having family or friends go to mikesbettershoes.com and make your purchase online.
- Having family or friends call MIKE’S toll free number and order by phone.
Note: MIKE’S will not ship any model of shoe that is not approved for ICI-O inmates.
